All grass seeds used in the Marr and Macgregor range are blended to specification by Barenbrug UK using their skill and expertise. Barenbrug UK are internationally respected grass seed specialists who within the UK work in partnership with the Northern Ireland Plant Breeding Station at Loughgall in Co Armagh. We are pleased to be associated with them since the quality of their grass seeds is second to none.
Our Grass Seed range is as follows.
Intensive Cutting Medium Term - A high quality cutting or grazing mixture with high first cut yield which can be followed either by a further cut, or grazed throughout the summer.
Long Term Cut & Graze Grass Seed Mix - Ideally suited to extensive management systems where versatility is the priority. A range of ryegrasses ensures growth throughout the year for both sheep/cattle/silage. The ideal system of management would be grazing with ewes/lambs, followed by big bale silage, followed by grazing. This system ensures maximum production and longevity of sward.
Intensive Grazing Mixture Long Term Grass Seed Mix - A high percentage of late perennials produces a leafy, dense sward ideally suited for grazing. Tetraphoids ensure palatability and added bulk if the mixture is cut. Silage from this product will be extremely high quality whenever it is cut.
Intensive Hi-Cut Medium Term Grass Seed Mix - A high yielding, high quality silage mixture. A high tetraploid content will ensure high sugars and good fermentation on the clamp. A high percentage of late perennials allow production throughout the summer and into Autumn, either for late silage cuts or grazing.
Traditional Pasture Mix Long Term Grass Seed Mix - An upland mixture for grazing sheep, hay or big bale silage. The choice of perennial ryegrass types allow the mixture to be used in many ways, whilst retaining year round production and persistence.
Short Tem Mixture Grass Seed Mix- This mixture may be sown in Autumn or Spring. Autumn sowing should produce grazing into early winter. Spring sowing may produce one or two cuts of silage the same year producing heavily the following season.
Grassland Renovator - Short term Grass Seed mix. Set aside mix, patching, mix, stitching in mix, over seeding mix. E.g. after 2-3 years 30% of some seeds stop growing, this rejuvenates the sward.
